Brightwell’s greatest strengths are her voice, the mystery/clues, keeping the story flowing (oh my goodness, I have read pages of some authors with NOTHING happening except the angst of the main character.

Bored out of my gourd. Brightwell has solved the mystery at that point). I enjoyed the book and would read another/5(). Ashley Weaver’s debut mystery, Murder at the Brightwell, is a delicious, stylish novel in which murder invades British polite society and romance springs in unexpected places, and a wonderful testament to the enduring delight of the traditional mystery/5().

This book is exceptional, almost need not say more. Robert Brightwell obviously has done his research and put forth a book well worthy of the George MacDonald Fraser series!.

Brightwell's character, Thomas "Flashman" is well written and he stays in trouble along the lines of "Ol' Flashy" himself/5(78).

Emily Brightwell is the pen name of American author Cheryl Arguile, the author of historical mystery novels. She began her career writing young adult romance novels before adopting her pen name and starting what became her best known work, the Mrs.

Jeffries mystery series. The Spirit Well is the third in a series of books called "Bright Empires". It was preceded by "The Skin Map" and "The Bone House". It is hard to describe the third book in a series without just reviewing the whole series thus far, so that is what I will do/5().

In the Flashman and the Sea Wolf book series, author Robert Brightwell introduces the readers to Thomas Flashman, the uncle to Harry Flashman. Thomas Flashman is a spy courier, who has been given the task of taking forged letters all the way to Spain.

Flashman is expected to trick the entire Spanish Fleet to evacuate the Cadiz Harbour. Murder at the Brightwell is the debut historical mystery/cozy novel by Ashley Weaver, and is also the 1st in the Amory Ames series. It was fun, lighthearted (even with murder at its core!) and highly entertaining/5.

Debut Author Snapshot: Ashley Weaver The upper crust of s England gathers at a seaside resort for some sun, surf, and foul play in Murder at the Brightwell, a debut historical myst /5.

The first book on this series was the Inspector and Mrs. Jeffries. Brightwell lays a foundation early in the story that reads somewhat as though he intends Thomas to be Harrys model (vice-versa with respect to GMF), "Flashman and the Seawolf" introduces us to Thomas Flashman, uncle to George MacDonald Fraser’s Harry Flashman and while certain obviously genetic characteristics are common to both make no mistake about it, I’d rather have 4/5.

The books are very well written and an easy read. Brightwell does an excellent job of describing things without being wordy. Quite often when a book series goes with this many books in a series, they weaken, but I find that each Mrs. Jeffries book /5(41).
